1Describe una acción que estaba sucediendo en el pasado en un determinado momento y en progreso

Peter was reading a book yesterday evening.

Pedro estaba leyendo un libro ayer por la noche.

1.2. Dos acciones que estaban sucediendo al mismo tiempo (una acción no influencia a la otra)

Anne was writing a letter while Steve was reading the New York Times.

Ana estaba escribiendo una carta mientras Steve estaba leyendo el diario.

 

1.3. Junto con el PASADO SIMPLE

While we were sitting at the breakfast table, the telephone rang.

Mientras estábamos sentados a la mesa en el desayuno , el teléfono sonó.
